Engineering

The smooth functioning of your equipment is critical to your organization’s success. With IEM, you have a knowledgeable partner dedicated to ensuring your equipment’s optimum performance and reliability.

Our staff includes highly skilled engineers – electrical and mechanical PE’s, applications engineers, and a controls and automation engineer. They have the experience and resources to provide solutions that go well beyond motor repair. IEM offers in-house engineering services for all industrial applications including:

  • Design and upgrade of protective relaying systems
  • Coordination engineering of relay systems
  • Arc flash assessment per the latest standards
  • Power distribution design
  • Hardware product engineering
  • Single-line diagram development
  • Equipment failure analysis and preventive measures

As electricity costs continue to rise, power quality becomes critical to manage operating costs. Inductive loads such as transformers, generators, induction motors, and fluorescent lighting systems can all greatly reduce the overall power factor of a facility. We can collaborate with you on the development of a strategy to correct power factors, appreciably reducing the amount electricity required to operate the same equipment and resulting in significant savings.

We perform arc flash assessments according to the latest revision of NFPA 70E – Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. Our assessment includes auditing of existing equipment to determine arc flash hazards as well as evaluation of your current PPE policies regarding arc flash.

Power distribution design engineering insures that your equipment is properly sized from the utility to the coordination of equipment. Our staff will provide engineering to match the capacity of your facility’s electrical load and can provide electrical specifications and single-line diagrams for your new installation or upgrade to existing equipment.
